- In 1979, two writers, Daphne Marlatt and Carole Itter, decided to gather and share 50 spoken stories from the Strathcona community. They interviewed a handful of Black People, such as Nora Hendrix, Rosa Pryor, Austin Phillips, and Dorothy Nealy. They published these stories in 1979 as a special edition of the Sound Heritage journal.
